Richard's Appearances

Richard is available for school and library visits, teacher conferences and other similar events. His appearances can be shaped to suit any grade level, and any age.

Using examples from his many books, Richard describes the process of writing and illustrating a children's book, from generating ideas to the finished product.

With more than 20 years of experience, Richard has developed a unique and memorable way of demonstrating the similar thought process used for writing and drawing.

The positive, enthusiastic, and funny presentation includes sketching demonstrations as well as a colorful and engaging PowerPoint presentation, touching on the author's other work as internationally syndicated cartoonist, editorial cartoonist, and greeting card designer.

The program often concludes with a hands-on drawing lesson with the students (depending on group size) as well as a Q & A session.
